I know it will be here before we know it, and maybe even before we think we are ready for it, but I can't hardly wait.

Hi everyone! I figured I'd make my first mark here, since my plan is to actually run the Half next year.

I found you all on the Runners World forum and figured I'd come say hi! Me and running have had an off/on kind of relationship for the last 10 or 11 years until recently, when I decided it was time to commit to running. I found love when running my first race this year and realize the races are what keep me going. I'm not a perfect runner, I'm not a fast runner, but I love to run and it makes me happy. I'm consistent for the most part, and I figure that one day, my hard work will pay off...I hope!

Thanks for putting the site together, I realize how much work goes into it!

Welcome to our humble abode. I am still tossing around the idea of running the Louisville half in October, but will probably end up waiting and running the Derby half. Me and Joe are running the Nike+ HumanRace on August 31st in Chicago and are pretty pumped about it. It will be our longest race to date. Well again, welcome, and hopefully our site will catch on. :D

I was looking at your Blog. It is pretty cool. I noticed you said your first race was in March. Me and Joe's was as well. We ran the 5K HealthCare Classic downtown. What was yours? :)

I actually ran the Anthem 5K Fitness Classic, my very first race and my boyfriend and I ran together. We did OKAY for two people new to racing, who are slow--but we finished!! Luckily I've gotten a little bit faster with each successive race, which is enough to keep me happy! I doubt I'll ever run a 6 or 7 minute mile but that's okay with me! LOL (really it's not, but I tell myself that!)

Thank you for looking at my blog, it's pretty pathetic, as I have no readers yet (other than BF!) but I mainly did that to keep my mind focused on running. When I have the RW magazine in my face and running info/forums in my daily web surfing, I tend to stay on track and stay excited about it! I was planning on running the Louisville Half this year too and in fact, that's why I started the blog so that I could discuss my training and keep myself accountable. I suppose you read though, I'm not sure I'll be doing that Half this year, I just don't know yet!

Oh one more thing, the 10K you all are planning to do will be cake! That's been my favorite race distance so far! I ran the Rodes City Run 10K (second leg of the Triple Crown of Running) and had a blast! I was actually PROUD of my push through it and even though I had a very slow time (1:14) it was an improvement from the Anthem 5K race so yay! It'll be great for you guys, especially in Chicago~! HOW ENVIOUS I AM!

I talk a lot, so please forgive me ahead of time. :P

We had talked about doing the 10K, but decided we weren't quite ready for that distance. 1:14 for someone who just started sounds like a great time to me. I'm hoping for close to 1:00, but not sure I can maintain a 10 mpm pace for 6.2 miles, just now getting to where I can maintain it for 3.1. :|

Talk all you want, we are just glad to have another forumite. :D

OMG you guys can TOTALLY do it!

When I did the 10k back in march, I had only been running since December AND my longest run was probably 5 miles up to that point and I WENT!

You guys can totally do it! You'll be sorry if you don't and I'll be angry if you don't!

The first 2 miles for me were GRUELING. 3-5 were okay and 5 until finish hurt a bit but I was running on adrenaline by then! YOU CAN DO IT!

EDIT: Okay I'm dumb. I thought you were saying you all weren't going to do the Human Race. I now understand that you were referring to the Rodes City Run. Me shuts up now.

Again, I'll reiterate my jealousy!

I wish there would be some sort of race through the Smokies. I'd be there! LOL
