It seems some of us are interested in getting together for a group run and I'm all for it. I started this thread to get the discussion started. Let's plan!!!

I'm open the weekend of Nov. 22nd. What about you? It is the weekend before the Thanksgiving Day run so we may want to consider that but I don't mind running that weekend.

I will run anywhere so I'm open to what everyone else wants to do. It seems we all run regularly in different areas so I will make it easy for me and do whatever you want to do.

Hippiedigger- We are running the 5 Miler at Iroquois on Thanksgiving morning. Not sure if you have plans or not but I wanted to let you know about it in case you're interested.

I would love to but my only concern is that I will be the slowest of the pack. Would we stick together or just run our own paces...and then you all will wait for me at the end? Or perhaps you all will set the time and I'll get there 30 minutes early so we can finish at the same time! LOL

I have never run with more than one person, so I'm not sure how it works and I don't want to hold anyone back.

I would be glad to run with you. Our paces aren't that far off, I am always the one bringing up the rear when me and Joe run. I am just starting to get down to a 10 mpm pace, but I wouldn't mind what ever pace you are comfortable with. Right not the miles are the most important part for me, not the pace.

My thought is we run together, but I'm open to running however you feel is best. I'm with Tom, endurance is what matters to me and the slower I run the longer I go. Speed is not important to me right now. My thought is we use it a LSD run and enjoy it. I wouldn't meet for a group run to race anyone.

I would like for it to be a challenging distance, not pace. I think all of us have ran a minimum of 8 miles so maybe we can plan something for that distance.

Aww you guys rock. I'm down for whatever! I can do 8 but maybe you all could push me over 8 for a distance PR. :)

I'd definitely be down to do it, now we have to find the place. I usually do my LSD's at Bernheim and others through the neighborhood or at Iroqouis. I'd be down for us to meet at a central loc (or anywhere, actually!) so that it's fair for all of us as far as travel is concerned!

YAY!

P.S. Eating fast food after an intense run is NOT the way to go. I feel like I'm going to barf. I know better...

I've never been to Bernheim, so that would be fine, but I'm open to anywhere.

I am totally down to meet up as well... my only issue is that I don't get off work till 6 on saturday and 4 on sunday. It kinda throws a wrench in the gears of a decent day. I would enjoy slowing down my pace and running longer distance, I think that would be nice. It also give me a bit of "drive" about signing up for the triple crown.

ok, Hippiedigger, do you ever get a Saturday or Sunday off? If so, maybe we can work around your schedule.

I'm also cool with Bernheim. Kriston, you have to show us the way around that place. I got a little turned-around trying to leave the race that morning.

I'll add another suggestion. There are plenty of places around Louisville I want to explore and run. Maybe you do too. For instance, Cherokee Park. I played basketball at Cherokee everyday for about 2 years but I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to run around it. I'm sure its just a loop but I've been known to get lost in my own neighborhood  !!! Without making formal plans, maybe we can try and get together once a month and run somewhere different. We tried the scheduled running/walking group thing earlier in the year and had a nice turn out, but we cancelled it due to many factors. Just a thought.

I think it's a great idea to try to do it regularly/semi-regularly! I think it would be a nice way for us to support each other AND to be accountable as well.

I've been doing my long runs at Bernheim on trails too, just to get in the extra miles. I enjoy the mix of road and trail running, it sure breaks up monotony.

The trails at Iroquois are NOT good for runners.

Wonder if Cherokee has any good ones?

I would love to find some good trails. Back home in Arkansas, and Missouri, (before I was running and could appreciate them) there were lots of state parks filled with huge Pine trees, and the needles would accumulate on the ground and made what would have been an excellent running surface. It would be nice to find something like that around here. I know my knees and other joints would love it as well.
