That's actually a very good find. It seems too good to be true, but I'm wondering two things:

1. Those "scheduled group runs" are mandatory or not?

2. It seems MORE catered to beginner-beginners, not just 13.1 and 26.2 beginners. I could be reading it wrong but it almost feels like something great for someone who either has never run before but wants to run the KDF series OR for someone who hasn't been running for awhile.

I'm tempted to sign up IF I knew I wasn't going to be the only one--free stuff is always appealing PLUS you'd get to meet some new people. But I also don't think I NEED the services, so I'd almost rather someone who DOES need them actually get them. Unless their motto is "the more the merrier."

BTW, I'm not trying to sound like I'm elite, I think you guys know I'm not, nor do I mean to sound that way. But I am pretty confident that I will be able to train independently (and possibly with the support of awesome group runs every now and then) and I feel armed with my current knowledge, shoes, gear, etc.

What do you guys think about it?

Again, I have to say it sounds pretty darn awesome!!!

Honestly, my thoughts are right along with yours. I kinda want the shirt and see if I can pick up any tips at the initial meeting. I'm confident my training will be fine on my own. I've researched training groups before and the group run is not mandatory.

If you want to sign up to go Jan. 6th to get a shirt, I'm in. I love free stuff. We might even learn something.

How are you feeling? I'm pretty sore today.

Feel pretty good honestly. I was going to skip the ice bath today because I was just so darn cold. But I realized that I personally believe that the ice baths DO help my body. I know that study was released saying otherwise, and that the benefit was mental, but I honestly think it helps me.

I thought back to my first long run and remembered how HORRIBLE I felt afterward. I couldn't do anything all day. I stayed in the bathroom for a good portion of the day :fart: and I thought that if THIS was what it felt like to run that long, there was no way I would ever do it. I stayed in bed when I wasn't in the bathroom because I was so tired and sore. The second long run felt ALMOST as bad but not AS bad. The third run...nothing but soreness. And it just kept getting better.

Joey and I were talking today and we realized that on Saturday mornings when I am done with my long runs, I am ALWAYS in an extremely great mood and pretty hyper too. I dance, I sing, I act a fool. That says a lot about how far I've come AND about how good these sessions are for me.

Umm, sorry for trailing off into another long winded post...*sigh*

If you sign up for the orientation, I'll go with you. Just let me know.

I'm not sore to the point I won't run tomorrow, but sore to where I'm feeling it a little. How was Denny's? I love the Moons over MyHammy! I will never order them again but it was one of my all-time get-drunk and eat late at night meals! Make sense?

Well, after you guys left, I went back inside to buy the membership and to get my mom a shirt. I called Joey and he sounded BEAT! He asked if I could bring something home instead, so I did.

And Moons Over MyHammy! That is honestly the only thing I ever get at Denny's. I know it's horrible but on occasion, I will splurge! We went after the Home Run and I got that and a cappucino! That is my FAVORITEST (yes, favoritest) thing! You rock! Good taste!

Why won't you eat them anymore? Because it was your drunken meal of choice? LOL

Nah, nothing to do with the drinking days. Its just a personal choice to avoid foods likes that. I have a tendency to over indulge so its better if I just stay away. But I will be 1st to tell you that is one the greatest items on a menu anywhere.

Quick story, I was at Perkins one time when I was 21 and they didn't have anything close to it, so I explained how I wanted them to fix my sandwich so it would be close the M.O.M.....Just imagine, I'm there at 2am, pretty trashed and I'm trying to explain how I want them to fix me that sandwich. A classic drunk-moment. They tried, but it couldn't compare.

Well, since you shared, I will too.

My mom, sister and I were on vacation in Florida...I was 10 years old at the time, sister was 16. The server walked up to our table and they thought he was cute. I'm sure I would have too if I cared about boys at that age...

My mom ordered a Grand Slam and found that incredibly hilarious, as did my sister. Probably because they were so excited by him, they got giggly. Then I ordered the Moons Over MyHammy and we all laughed. It was one of those giggly, crazy, embarrassing moments. And we weren't drunk. For the longest, after eating that for the first time, I kept wanting to call it Moons Over MyHeiny.

I don't think I will. I know I wouldn't commit to doing their group runs and everything, so it would kind of be like signing up for a race to get the shirt, and not actually running the race. I wouldn't wear the shirt because it just wouldn't seem right, but that is just me. I'm not saying it's wroing, that's just my thoughts.

So far, I am not sore, but it usually takes me a day or 2 to get sore. I drank my recovery drink, went to the office and cleaned, came home and got the wife so we could go shopping, and didn't get home until almost 5:00 pm, so with all the running, I may just not have gotten a chance to get sore.

I completely disagree. The initial meeting will consist of training. You would be getting the shirt for that, not the group runs. I feel if I take my time to make their event a success, the least they could do is give me a tech shirt.

IMO, thats nothing even remotely close to signing up for a race to get the t-shirt. I see it as a way to add a tech shirt to the running gear while having an opportunity to learn something. Nothing wrong with that.

I specifically said that "I'm not saying it's wrong", just not for me. I totally respect your opinion. I hope that anyone that want's to do it does do it.

I know what you said, but you also implied what you thought it was like and I disagree with that comparison. I just wanted to state its nothing like that since you would be getting something out of it. Wearing a shirt without running the race is wrong to runners, and that's what you compared it to. I just didn't agree with that part of your statement.

Here is Jewish Hospitals website.

It says the shirt is for participating in Jewish Hospital Sports Medicine Healthy Lifestyle Training Program which is a 16 week course with weekly Saturday runs and a training plan. I am probably reading it a little to litteral though. You know I have a tendency to do that. Sign of insanity.
