I hear you! During my last run, which I intended to be a short training run, I had put out my 3.5 and was feeling so good, I figured I'd double up. And then I remembered my ITBS and had an internal argument that went like this:

Me: I sure feel great! Keep on running!

Mind: Umm, did you forget something?

Me: Naw, I don't think so...something you want to tell me? I'm really having a great time right now, don't blow it for me!

Mind: Oh it's nothing. *dirty look*

Me: Oh just tell me already!

Mind: Really, you don't want to hear the truth.

Me: Just tell me, I swear I won't be mad.

Mind: Well, okay then. Did you forget you have ITBS and if you do too much too soon, you will be in pain and not be able to run for awhile?

Me: Thanks for reminding me, jerk.

Mind: Hey, you promised.

Me: Whatever, we're going home now, thanks to you.

Fortunately I was able to work through my ITBS rather quickly and it hasn't retunred(knock on wood!!). Other injuries have been minor and nothing to worry about, thankfully.

Well some quick research says, rest, ice, anti inflams, and some stretch exercises to help loosen the band. Any other info you care to offer that you did or used to get back up and running, concerning ITB issues.

Thanks!

Stretch and roll, stretch and roll… that’s my remedy :)

also, if taking anti-inflamatory (advil, etc)… don’t go running when you feel like you’re getting better after taking something... It can mask the injury making things worse.

My IT Band issues were solely shoe related. Switched to Neutral shoes and I've been good since.
