If you don't have a Garmin, you should get one. Tom & I have the 205 and we love it. This gadget will take your running to another level.

That will be a good test for your boyfriend. Some women may want clothes, jewelry, shoes, etc.....but if he really knows the way to his runner girldfriends heart, he will show up with a Garmin. Just my 2 cents!!!

I'll make a Christmas wish for you that you get one. It just makes running outside even more enjoyable. Assuming you enjoy running outside as I do.

I ONLY run outside! :)

My boyfriend is pretty good about gift giving. I got a brand new CPU and graphics card for Christmas last year, which is definitely the way to my heart. He knows me well enough to know that I like food, computers, music, and anything running related!!!!!!

Me too. I am thinking about joining a gym this winter for when it is below freezing out though. I was a smoker for about 12 years  , so not sure how my lungs are going to handle running in the cold.

I've found that an individual's ability to run in the cold is very INDIVIDUAL! LOL I usually become accustomed to the very cold air in about a week, some people never seem to be able to, or they don't give it a try.

I tried to get my DBF out last winter to run with me and that was a no go. I handle it well but he really can't. My biggest problem in the winter is the ice. I'm thinking about investing in some spikes.

Probably a good idea. /The last thing you want is to slip on some ice, and spain or break sonething, and be OOC for a long time.

My pace greatly diminishes in the winter once any snow/ice falls. I still get out and run (like a maniac, I suppose) but slowly. The snow isn't so bad actually, it's the packed down snow that freezes or the ice itself, just makes running so cumbersome.

Now that I think about it, I bet it's probably not wise to run "carefully" because it probably puts you at greater risk of injury being out of form....

Okay so the time has come. I've been wanting to make the purchase and after the Race for the Cure experience, I'm ready to get serious. I want to find the best Forerunner for me. Where can I go to physically shop for one? I'd like to go to a brick-and-mortar and actually touch them, size them, play around with them...then buy one online where they are probably cheaper! LOL

Give me some tips...I was thinking Target maybe? Do any of the local running stores have them? Best Buy?

Help your running sister out!

I'm honestly not sure. I believe Fleet Feet in Chicago had them, but I didn't notice any here, but I can't imagine that they wouldn't. Joe will probably chime in here. He has spent more time at them than I have.

Fleet Feet in Louisville also carries them. Best Buy might have them in-store but I'm not sure. They are available on their website. I go to Target all the time and I don't ever remember seeing them.

Don't let the size of the 205 scare you. It is large, but they are lightweight and you hardly notice it. You will love it.

I'm actually leaning toward the 305. I've heard more people say that they like the 305 better than the 405 and that's why I want to touch them! I want to see for myself!
