I'm having some issues with the inside of my right knee and the groin area on my right leg. I hope this is nothing but its a bit of a concern.

Don't feel bad...I pushed a wee bit too hard this afternoon and my hip/IT Band is acting up, hopefully just tonight though.

I ate way too much candy at work today (thanks Joey, for bringing home a huge bag of candy from your mom!) and forced myself to go to the park to get at least 3.3 (the loop) in...but after 2.5 GRUELING miles, I started to actually feel GOOD. So I ran to the top of Uphill Road, then back down and finished up. Turns out I did over 5 miles...and I tried to go slow but couldn't slow down enough...so now I'm sorta SORE! And worried.

Joe, let's rest. Tomorrow is date night, so no running for me!

The first 2-3 miles are always painful for me... Knees clicking, calves feel odd, shoulders have a twinge in them. Basically, it's a battle to continue on. And then after those first few, it all seems to fall into place. I can actually up my pace a bit, and carry onward for however far the run is.

Ice is you friend on many of these things. I have about 12 ice packs in the deep freeze at home, and after a run, I'll sit down for an hour or so covered in the packs. If something like my groin (it's been tore twice) is feeling a bit stiff, I'll take a warm shower, do an easy stretch, and then sit for a few minutes with a heating pad on it, before I warm up... Gets the muscle nice and loose.

I agree with you about the 1st 2-3 miles. I remember it wasn't long ago that I was lucky to make it 2 miles. Now, I don't really get started until at least a mile. That 1st mile is tough every time and the most challenging. I always tell myself, just get past the 1st mile and you will be good. Its always that way.

I ran 4 miles last night and the groin issue doesnt seem to be going away. I'm going to have to make the time to do some of things suggested here. I've been doing some stretches but I might need to invest in a good heating pad.

I'm still sore...my legs just feel like they have nothing left and work is MURDEROUS today.

I'm tired too, that doesn't help.

I didn't ice up after my run because I don't usually need it after 5 miles--something about Uphill Road is tough...I wonder what that is?

I might have to take tomorrow off, or at least run around my 'hood where it's much less hilly than anyplace else I like to run.

I hope you start to feel a little better Joe. I just want to snuggle up in the bed and not go back to work!
