Marathon Monday Pt. 4.....The Toe Saga.........

So, Marathon training is off and "running". I'm having some major issues with my right little toe. I made a crucial mistake in the Hangover Classic that got all of this started. I know that on runs longer than 5 miles I have to wear Injinji socks because I have a slight hammer toe issue on my right foot. Basically on longer runs the 4th toe will start to pinch the little toe on my right foot. Well, I didn't follow my rulles and I'm paying the price. I wore some thicker socks because of the cold temps....BIG mistake!

I fwelt it start to get sore during the final 2 miles of the race. It was sore the next day but I hadn't noticed it blisterd. I ran on Monday and it was really sore again, which usually doesn't happen. After Wednesday's run and some additional soreness...I took a closer look and OMG, the blister was my whole toe!!! So I proceed to pop it and start the rehab process.....It's still sore....

Monday-  I ran 3 miles on Southern Pkwy. Horrible run overall. It was my 1st since the Hangover Classic and really just a waste. I stomped the ground, ran sloppy, lacked energy, and my toe was still really sore. Oh well, bad days happen.

Wednesday- I did speedwork for a total of 5 miles on the TM. It was productive, a solid run. My toe started to get really sore during the last mile.

Sunday- I pushed back my long run one day due to my toe and a hangover, lol:D...Due to the weather conditions, this 9 miler was going to have to be on the TM. I fixed my toe up to try and prevent additional issues. Didn't work. I made it thru 7.25 miles and the soreness was too much to go further.

All my schedule runs this week will be pushed back a day, except for Sunday which calls for a 10 miler. I have a race that day and plan to get the 1st 7 out of the way before the race. Have a great week and Happy Running!
