It was yet another great group run this Saturday morning. We decided to meet downtown, and run the Rodes 10K route. It was myself, Joe, Kriston, and Christian. We met at 4th street, just north of Broadway at 7:30. Me and Joe both forgot to get our Garmins going early so we were standing at the starting line waiting for them to pick up. Once they did we were off. Well sort of, we had to make a quick bathroom stop at Mickey D's. Then we were off.
Most of the route is not to bad for running early on a Saturday morning. For more than 3/4's of it has sidewalks to run on, and if you're out that early, the traffic was pretty light, so it wasn't too bad. The worst part is around Lexington Rd. There are a couple of blind corners that you have to watch, but not too bad.
We made it the corner of witherspoon and Floyd in decent time, and the weather was holding up, so me and Kriston decided to run the route again in reverse. We parted with Joe and Christian, and were off. The worst part of the trip back was the traffic had begun to pick up. It was good to see so many other runners out running the route as well.
As we got about 3/4 of the way back, the rain tried to pick up, but it never got too bad and as we started getting back to the finish, Kriston knew she was good for a new weekly distance PR, but we were within range of a new single run distance PR, so we decided to go for it. We finished at 4th and chestnut with a total distance of 13 miles.
It was a great day with great friends. I always enjoy our group runs and this day was no different. Thank to each of you for a great day!!!
