Life happens

07/15/09 | by Tom [mail] | Categories: News, Non-Run Related

That's the theme for me here lately. Sorry I haven't updated lately. Just been going through a lot of personal stuff that I won't bore you all with here. My running has been almost non-existent. I need to get back in my groove. I promise to work on that.

I have a new road bike. It's a Trek 1000. I'm pretty excited about that. Just got it about a week ago. Got my Clipless pedals and shoes in today. I plan to go home tonight and learn how to fall over. LOL

I promise everyone I will get back on track, and get my butt back in gear with our site.

Enjoy reading your race reports Tom...You give a very honest recap of your race experience..Good job...I hope you can get some base of miles under your feet before Chicago..We are going to peek our miles around 55 and then begin to taper 4 weeks out...My advice..Skip the speed work and get weekly consistent miles in.If I compete on less than 35 I suffer and never hold my race pace...Good luck...I can hardly wait to read this one..Tim

Loved reading your honesty. So many of the blogs I read are about how "fantastic" everyone is doing and how FAST they are running....not much about how hard it is to be a weekend warrior or how to find the time to put it the 25 - 35 miles before a big race. Sometimes life just comes at you and slaps you upside the head. I have found that running has been the great alleviator in many of those situations but there have been others where running had to be put off for "another day" and then pacing begins to suffer and the miles decrease...you know how it is...all I'm saying is thanks for being realistic and honest. My running has suffered tremendously this last year due to personal issues as well and I am now getting back into the swing of things. One of the best things about running is that all you gotta do is just go lace up those shoes and you're back at it again....
